Blogging for Educators

As society blasts into the future, mankind as a whole will be increasingly obligated to acquaint themselves with the cyber world. The young and the old will eventually have equal online presence and online communication will become a common way of life. One aspect of internet communication in particular, blogging, is one way that people are beginning to share their experiences in a way that builds productive networks relating to certain realms of knowledge.

Blogs serve a variety of purposes for their users but one thing all bloggers are attempting to accomplish is gaining a network of followers, or people that have "subscribed" to gain automatic access to a blogger's post. These posts are updated in real time and blogging websites have a variety of settings that will keep subscribed users connected. (Details about these different methods of connection and their appropriate terminology can be found in the linked web page). Within a blogger's post a reader can expect a few key components. Primarily, readers will find a plethora of articles that caught the blogger's attention and proved to be both valuable and relevant to their topic of interest. Secondly, a blog will always have some sort of archive for their material that is user friendly and easy to navigate. Finally, readers can always expect to find a way to comment on the article or the attached commentary from the blogger. Once these comments are made, the network of articles and links begins to grow and thus the beast of blogging comes to life.

The question is, how does this fit into the world of Education? Well the answer is that blogging can be a major resource for students, teachers, and American citizens alike.

This will be the first post of many on a mission to create a community of people aimed at keeping the public informed about the world of education, especially that of elementary education. What's the latest classroom research in all of the content areas? How are America's politicians working to improve the current state of our public schools? How do Americans relate on a global scale to other young students? All of these questions can be answered through sharing between professionals and the answers can be made public so parents and others have access to the  most elite and reliable information.

Also, in addition to this blog for the general knowledge about the field, it is important to recognize the powerful resource that blogging can be for students. Students can share information about their classroom studies. They can trade helpful resources between themselves or with the teacher. The blog archives can make searching for these materials extremely simple and the online component makes the activity especially appealing to younger students.

Blogging can help all walks of life and I hope this blog can help anyone and everyone that will have some sort of relationship to the classroom.

Blogger , this online blogging hub, will help me create this community with a few easy steps, provided I maintain the few behaviors a good blogger always shows:

  • Consistent posts
  • Relevant information
  • Good relationships that promote the cause
It is my promise to all of my readers that I will do my best to follow these rules. Enjoy!

(Other tips can be found in the "behaviors" link)

With this being said, welcome to The Anderson View of Education and please feel free to share what you find in your journey across the cyber world of education!
